…Working Progress…
Hey
Just to update, I have added a bit more lines into my Liberator part in my 2nd draft. I’ve also started the paragraph of the negative views on Pope Julius II. I’m going on retreat with my year group for the next 3 days. So on the weekend I shall continue writing my essay and see if I can motivate myself to finally finish it off.
I was supposed to have a study period with Sir today to talk about my Major and what I’ve written so far, as I sent it to him last week, but interruptions keep getting in the way. Hopefully he’ll be able to comment about it next week on Monday or send me an email with feedback.
My opinions and judgment on Pope Julius II and the historic writings of him are becoming clearer in my mind which is excellent as I know what I want to write and include in my essay. Everything I want to write is stored in my mind, it’s just about me making the time to writing it down (more like typing) and editing it.
Hopefully all goes well this week and I can finish off this draft and send it to Ms Russo and Ms Field to read through and so I can get feedback.
Ciao!

Hey
I have been working tiressly on my Major and since last week on friday I was able to talk to Sir about it, and he was able to help me structure it out in a good form which has helped me greatly. Knowing that I’m looking at the different interpretations of PJII over time.
I’ve also been working on two parts of the essay (The Warrior Pope and Liberator), which have been taking me some time. My only issue is exceeding the limited amount of words we are supposed to have. And knowing me, I always go over. So after I give my full 2nd draft to Sir, Ms Russo and Ms Field, I’ll be able to get feedback and take out a few things which arent neccesary.
Hopefully it goes all well. I’m hoping to stick by my check list and finish my 2nd draft by the end of this week. So fingers cross it goes all well.
I also have to send Sir the two parts I have written thus far tonight. So I’ll be off now.

Hey
Feeling much more relieved since last week on Thursday, which is considerably weird. I gave Sir my 1st draft which he commented on was very sketchy which I understood very well. He told me to specifically think what my topic is about, the 3 inquiry questions and go over my original proposal. We had organised to talk about my major during one of my free study periods today but he was away. So I’ll have to arrange another ‘appointment’.
The good news is that he gave us (referring to my class) an example major which came 3rd, last year. Which is fantastic! It’s something which has inspired and helped me to think clearly about my major and ‘what my topic is about.’
I’m feeling more confident with the structure of my essay that I want to use now. And re-thinking about my topic has allowed me to consider things that I wanted to use in it earlier such as ‘all the interpretations of PJII’ and how they have changed over time. Which involves the contemporary historians to modern times and all these varying views of PJII.
So to sum up this is what I have been thinking:
Topic: The Different Interpretations of PJII Over Time
Inquiry Questions:
1) Interpretations/Views of PJII (have a scaffold list which I shall attach)
2) History constructed during the reign of PJII and how it has changed over time (original inquiry question)
3) Historiographical Issues with the Historians (? – have to talk to Sir about this)
I’m also starting my bibliography today and selecting my sources which I’m using for my annotated bibliography.
Ohh, and I also sent an email to Caroline Murphy who is one of the historians whom I’m using in my major and using her book, ‘The Popes Daughter.’ So hopefully she’ll reply.
So overall, it’s offcourse a working progress and I was looking forward to talking to Sir about my major but I’ll have to arrange it again very soon so that I know I’m on the right track. I’ve also established my check list and I am following it thoroughly. When I complete my 2nd draft I’m going to get Ms Russo and Ms Field to read over it and get some feedback from them. But one step at a time. And the clock is ticking.
Till next time. Ciao

Hey
I’ve been stressing lately about my 1st Draft. When we had our class with Sir last friday, I still hadnt finished it, but luckily he was able to give us an extension to next week friday, which is tomorrow. And guess what? I was trying to work on it yesterday (Wednesday) and I completely blanked! I began questioning what I was doing, once again if I’m putting the right information in the right place, questioning my essay question, if I should change the order/structure of my essay and the funniest thing of all, is that I still haven’t finished it. Which is driving me INSANE. I know I don’t have a lot of time because this draft is due tomorrow and I know I’m not going to be able to finish it to the best of my ability right now. So I know what I’m going to hand in to Sir tomorrow is going to be heaps ‘crappy’ but at least I know my 2nd draft wont be like my 1st. All the ‘blank’ sections will be filled in and I will be working like crazy to get it finished. This 1st draft is driving me nuts. I have too many distractions conflicting with my time and writing. My laptop is also being repaired and I thought I was going to get it back on Monday, but obviously I didn’t, because I’m working on a slow computer surrounded by my brothers watching TV which is noisy. Gosh I need to stop whinging. I’m just not in the right state of mind and comfortable area to get myself wrapped into my 1st draft at the moment.
So my plan is this:
- Hand in the 1st draft to Sir (crappy one which is not even finished (grr) but I have done the Synopsis and a bit of the Essay part- but its still bad, get feed back as well- which will be negative)
- 2nd draft (finish everything, all blank sections filled in with complete referencing, give to Sir, Ms Russo and Ms Field to read through as well)
- At this point I will also have my bibliography finished.
- I shall also need to write a timeline for myself and how many weeks I have left to finish my Major and work out what I’m going to be doing each week. I need to start organising myself more efficiently.
- I need to make a CHECK LIST!!!!
Hopefully this all works out. I need to keep thinking positively and get as much done as I can tonight, but I know it is going to be crap. But at least Sir can see I have actually started writing my essay (with my scaffold) and that I am hypothetically ‘tying a rope around my neck.’
One good thing though, I have completed the bibliography ‘grids’ for each of my historians/authors for my resources and have notes flying around everywhere in my file bag for my major.
Ciao, from anxious Claire
